Smod it up
SModcast is the meandering palaver of a pair of dudes whose voices are so dull, they don't deserve to be on the radio (and, hence, aren’t). Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier are SModcast.

Transport Companies List

All that you have to do is just click on the name of the country and you will have the choice of either just opening the file or downloading it.These files will be updated every couple of months or so depending upon how much time I can find to work on them.

You will see that each entry has a space for

a) Company Name (in several cases this has been done in company colours)

b) Address) Post Coded) Town) Telephone Number) Fax Number) Activities) E-Mail) Web Page.

Larger countries such as England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain have been divided into areas

In the case of England this has been done by county in the cases of Spain by autonomous region and in the cases of France, Germany and Italy by post code, you can move between the various sections by using the small left and right facing arrows at the bottom left hand side of the database once it has opened.

In certain cases you will see a small red triangle in the top right hand corner of a cell if you run your mouse over this cell you will notice that an extra comment appears which depending upon whether it is a company name cell or the activities cell will give further information about either which parcels network the company belongs to or who owns it etc etc or how many vehicles they have etc etc.

In the case of activities where no information to the contrary has been freely available it has been assumed that a minimum service of "Full Loads,National" is provided.

As far as Spain is concerned approximately 70% of Spanish transport is effected by either drivers or companies with only 2 or 3 vehicles, as these on occasion tend to give themselves long grandious sounding names it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between an owner driver and a larger company, those that have been included in the present list will be altered and rectified as and when more information becomes available.

This information has been collated by searching the internet and telephone directories etc over quite a lengthy period of time and due to the fact that companies appear and disappear on a daily basis obviously no guarantees can be given as to the exactness of the addresses and telephone numbers etc should you at any time notice that anything is incorrect please inform me at

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

and I will attempt to rectify as soon as possible.

Final chapter in the election story?

kateblogforweb.jpg

Its being reported that 36% of voters are still making up their minds where to put their cross on 6 May. Maybe we can help.

Since the election was first called on Tuesday, 6 April, the 5 live election story has been bringing our listeners the radio debate online. Pulling together audio with politicians, pundits and the public broadcast on 5 live, listener comments made on 5 live Connect and news stories, the election story allows the user to hear and review what the different parties think about the key issues.

There were times during the final couple of weeks leading up to the launch of the election story that I didn't like the whizzy flash tool very much. It kept me awake at night, it seemed to be fraught with complications, and as fast as one thing was solved another would creep out from under the carpet with an evil grin as if to say - "you're not getting rid of me that easily."

I suppose it's like giving birth. Once it was live all the anxiety, pain and long hours leading up to its birth were forgotten, as I looked at it and cooed. It was a proud moment, made more so when it started to grow as more content was loaded into it daily and it became the audio story of the election on 5 live and across the BBC.

QUEENSTON, ONTARIO — The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., Member of Parliament for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, and Dr. Kenneth E. Loucks, chair of the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, today celebrated the completion of the external structure – or “topping-off ” – of the central plaza building at the Queenston-Lewiston International Bridge.

“As one of the busiest Canada-U.S. border crossings, the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge is essential to trade with the United States,” said Minister Nicholson. “The Government of Canada is proud to have invested  in this project, which is creating jobs in the Niagara region and contributing to efficient trade and travel over the long term.”

“It is a pleasure to announce that the revitalization plans for the Queenston Plaza are progressing on schedule and budget,” said Dr. Loucks. “We are thankful to the Government of Canada for its investment, which will help make this international crossing one of the most efficient of the bridges along the U.S. and Canadian border.”
