A CZECH lorry driver has been charged with causing death by careless driving following a fatal road traffic collision in Mansfield on Tuesday.

Forty-five-year-old Dusan Loucky, from Rosice in the Czech Republic, was driving a Renault heavy goods vehicle when he was involved in a collision with a silver Nissan Pixo Acenta at the junction of Cauldwell Road and the A611 Derby Road at around 9.10am.

The driver of the Nissan, Alan Allsop (85), of Highland Road, Mansfield, was taken to King’s Mill Hospital, where he died a short while later.

Mr Loucky will appear at Mansfield Magistrates Court this morning.

Crash investigators are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them, and are particularly keen to trace a number of drivers who may have seen what happened but didn’t stop at the scene.

Anyone with any information should call Det Sgt James Greely at Nottinghamshire Police’s Crash Investigation Unit on 0300 300 9999 ext 816 2225.

Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
