trundling across the lake. It was a stunning day, about -15 and so sunny it was painful. I had to go to Poplar Hill in Ontario, which is only about 50ks past Pikangikum but is almost all ice so you are down to 8mph for most of it.
Anyway, I was heading across and could see something going on ahead. To start with, the ice road was pretty narrow but then it began to widen out and I came to a stretch that was probably as wide as all 6 lanes of a UK motorway, and they had the graders out clearing it even more.
Way off in the distance, I could see something on the lake, but couldn't make it out. I had figured it by now, as it was only a mile or so away. I think you will get it from this one.
So as i got closer and closer, so it became more obvious, until I finally got right up to it.
Yep, it was an airplane that had broken down on the lake. They were repairing it and clearing a runway for it.
Something of a surprise.
