Hi everyone. Im sure this has probably been posted many times before but im looking advice first hand from someone who has tried to do this.
Me and my partner have started to look into moving to canada. She is a school teacher and im a class 1 lorry driver. These to professions i know are sought after in canada and i have been searching around the canadian embasies web site and it is a mine field of information for my small brain to work around lol.. does anyone know of any sort of agencies that do this sort of thing for you, maybe someone has already tried what im trying. Any advice is as always very much appreciated.
thank you

Hokay. Firstly, where are you thinking of moving to? Every Province has slightly different ways of doing things.
You are right enough about both professions being desirable here, although I think the teaching one will prove difficult until residency is granted as Work Permits generally prevent anyone from working with children. I may well be wrong- you may be able to get a WP for teaching. That said, the driving is likeliest to get you on a fasttrack out here, should that be what you are after.
Agencies will do it, but they are expensive and you are better to do it for yourself. That way, you get a clear picture of where you stand at every stage.

Thanks for the reply. were thinking antario, maybe peterborough, vancouver, toronto, those kind of areas. Iv been driving wagons now for seven years and work for a major supermarket in the uk and also have lowloader experience transpoting machinery. To be honest, at the minute i really dont want to do the long haul stuff and would prefer local work with no nights out, is this possible? but if it was a means to get into the country then i would do the long haiel but ideally i would rather not. I also have relatives vancouver (cousins) does this make any difference.
We would def rather do it ourself instead of agencies, as you say,you know were you stand then.
I look forward to your replyand hopefully vhat some more.
thank you againg for taking the time to reply

Hi if you want to come to canada as a driver you in most circumstances you will have to do long haul in canada or to the usa 15months to 2 years then when you are landed thats if the goverment wheels move fast enough then you can find a job where you want first you have to contact a company then they can can things movig for you in canada nothing moves very fast anything ele you need to know just ask

The main reason that most go on longhaul is because they need to be USA legal. If you can cross into the US then you are entitled to go for the nomination. It doesn't actually have to be longhaul, but there aren't that many jobs around where you can be on shorthaul or days on the PNP. Also, the Ontario thing regarding PNP is still very vague.
Erb are based in Ontario and also have a depot in Winnipeg. Manitoba operate the PNP programme so that may be a way of getting the best of both worlds.
The relatives business is another thing which would be disputable, but if you happened to be borderline on being accepted for some reason then it would raise your score.
Remember, even some longhaul jobs get you home every week.
