Drivers cpc 4 Years ago Karma: 11
There's alot of talk around the forums about this and the cost of the Drivers cpc.

One thing that has got me thinking apart from how much it's going to cost.

What happens if you fail?

Will you get your money back?

Will you lose your job?

What would happen if you refused to take the drivers cpc?

Interesting thought that,- what would happen if you failed ?

Is there going to be tests ?

If you couldn't loose your license by failing cpc tests I'm sure I'll have great fun failing those tests en masse.

So if you attend this cpc thing you will get a "pass"..what a complete waste of time then,,cus all the bosses will do is say yes they have been tested and passed with flying colours...

More money wasted that the companys can ill afford

Hello Again people. Haven't been on here for a long long time. Atleast 2 years.
I will fill you in at some piont, it's good to be back and what a cracking site you have made jimbo.

Regarding the drivers cpc, from what i understand and have read and heard, it is not a test as such, but you do 35 hours of training every 5 years, weather it is in one go or spread out over a week or something like that. and basically if you don't do the course then you won't be able to drive.

Cause we already have our licenses then we get what they used to call grandfather rights, but not until sept 2009. for new drivers it is already incorperated within the therory test.

i think i am correct in what i have said.

in nut shell all, we are all now being told how to drive by bloody brussels.

That sounds about right, the thing whats bothering me is the cost, both to the industry and the individual.

In my case, I will have to stand this cost personally, and from some of the figures I have hear it could be in the region of about 3 grand to get the required ammount. But my customers won't stand a rate increase to recover the costs, the same as it will not effect the employed drivers pay packet.

I have heard it on other forums that we shouldn't be moaning as most professional industries require some form of regular training, but their pay rates reflect that, I can't see ours doing.

For me, personally, I'm trying to build up enough work away from driving that by 2014, when I will have had to have done this training, I can pack in driving. What the training for the cpc would cost me will be used to get my digger licence as they are paying better rates than HGV driving.

So there's another one out of the industry, and I won't be the only one thinking that way
