The intention in this part of the forum is to delve a bit more in to the informative and historical part of the transport industry.
There will be posts about makes of commercial vehicles which we will start alphabetically, there will be makes that you may never even have heard of and photos that you have never seen, as each make appears please feel free to add your own photos to each make maybe even with a few comments about any experiences you had, sorry but Volvo fans will have a bit of a wait as these things do take some time to write in many cases having to translate from other languages.
Should any one be interested in writing the history of any well known transport companies please feel free the idea of this forum as with any other is to generate debate.

Wow Vas you sure know your stuff what a stroll down memory lane, at 50 I remember that Atkinson ERF and Foden were the premium trucks of the late 60' early 70's and Ford and Bedford took care of the smaller section Then came the Swedish invasion and sadly the brish marks never quite got over it sadly we don't make anything substantial here none the less pleased to see Guy bij's and even the old 2 stroke Karriers.
In 1974 I designed a truck for a school project and sent the results to Atkinson in Preston and was delighted to be offered a special day at the Walton Le Dale with my old Dad and went round the factory had a great lunch and in the afternoon went out on a road test of a cummins powered Borderer ( Blimey I remember the Mark 1 with the switches on a little panel at knee level on the right of the wheel)
I will certainly be a regular vistior to your thread great stuff mate

It will be a bit before there are any more as they take quite a bit of time to research and prepare
