An accident in which two lorries and three cars were involved in the Brentenberg tunnel on the Taurern motorway (A10) in Salzburg yesterday (Thurs) resulted in its closure for two hours and a 13 kilometre long traffic jam.
Police said a lorry driven by a Hungarian man, 42, ran into the rear of a lorry driven by another Hungarian (30). Three cars behind them could not stop in time and ended up ramming into the second lorry.
Police closed the tunnel from 10am to 11:50pm while workers towed the vehicles out of the tunnel and cleaned up the mess.
All five vehicles suffered severe damage, but no one was injured.
