Ferry workers operating in Co Cork have planned to stage a stoppage next month over pay cuts being issued to staff on the freighter Naomh Ciaran II.
The strike action will begin on June 4th from 8.30am until 7pm that evening. Workers are up in arms over the decision to cut pay for deckhands and the ship’s master.

As well as the pay cuts, workers are expected to work four extra weeks between May and September without pay, a move that has angered the employees.

The ferry carries passengers and cargo and the strike will affect some hauliers trying to transport goods abroad.
