5 years on and bankrupted to the tune of £70,000! So no you have no rights, but you can make it easier on your self, if mediation proves unsuccesful, then be assured family court will not solve anything. Having done all the court told me and paid £35,000 to my solicitor (Parasites) I was granted joint residency every weekend overnight alternate weekends and all the school holidays shared! It took the whole of 2004 to achieve this including intervetion by CAFARCE and other do gooders ( you also want to avoid these like the plague as they will believe anything she says but not you!!) The contact order remainded in place till Aug 2008 although she with held my children for a year, if I was to see them again it would have meant the intervention of more social workers which I have declined as she will dangle my sons like carrots for the rest of their childhood!! I have not had any contact with my children for 20 months now they live 1/2 a mile down the road and pass my door on the way to school! I handed one son a post office book with over £1000 for my sons to use for school trips etc my ex called the police on me for harrasment (Wish someone would harrass me with a few grand!) So I f***ed them off, but stay in touch with the school who assure me they are progresing well my ex still take them to CAMHS so it can't be me!
Once you leave the family home so do your rights you should be granted 'Parental Responsability' for what ever that is worth as from here on in she will call the shots till the kids are 18 years old you will need to bite your tounge eat humble pie and do all you can to keep the peace with your ex if you want contact with the children Family Law courts are a farce  but check out tthese links for confirmation:

http://www....com/watch?v=ZeW2QtNAn1s Celia Conrad who features in this series wrote a book called 'Father's Matter' worth getting a copy if you google Daveyone you will find I have written about this all over the world and my advice is keep hold of your cash you will never get the desired reult as soon as the so called legal profesionals get involved and Family Law judges are a different animal to those under scrutiny in criminal law!
