The lorry collided with six cars and a telegraph pole before ploughing into a garage in Ynysybwl, near Pontypridd, south Wales. Nobody was injured. The incident happened at the junction of Clive Terrace and Llewellyn Terrace just before 1500 BST on Monday. Rhonda Cynon Taf Council which owns the lorry is leading the inquiry into what happened. Head of streetcare at the authority, Nigel Wheeler, said: "In conjunction with our partners at South Wales Police, we are currently carrying out a full investigation into the incident.
"We fully appreciate that this must have been an upsetting incident for the residents and we are in the process of working with them to assist them in any way possible." A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "Six cars altogether were bumped by the recycling truck as it came down the street. There were no injuries." According to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the truck only stopped when it became "wedged between a wall and an end-of-terrace property". |
