OK, so I know I haven't added to the blog of late, and I may have appeared to be absent, but it has been a rather odd few weeks and I am feeling a little weird.
Firstly, I have been running my little buns off and trying to get level. I just did a remortgage so I could dispense with a bankloan and am giving serious thought to buying a truck again. I took some pretty interesting loads but have not had the camera to hand, largely because I have had BTD Junior with me for 8 weeks and he will insist on filling the card up on any old crap.
I want to talk about Uwe. It seems kind of important to do so, but I am not that able to find the words to express what I think about it. The man was 10 years older and had been around the block. He had all the confidence and competence you could ask for, yet he died in such a manner. I finally saw the pictures yesterday and wish I hadn't. Thing is, I would have felt like I was copping out if I hadn't looked....if you see what I mean.
There was this bus thing a few weeks back. Do a search for Greyhound stabbing on Google and you will get the picture. I have to warn you, it ain't pretty. Me and junior drove past the bus on the following day. It was still at the side of the road and still had the detectives all over it.
A couple of days later, we were running home and my boy got in the sleeper at Brandon and didn't emerge again until we passed Portage. I get the impression it affected hin far more than he let on.
I am on my own again next week. I will try to get some pics and do a proper entry. At the moment, things are a little strange.
PLEASE be careful on your travels. I already lost one friend recently. The weather will be turning all too soon and we all need to be extra vigilant. |

A weird few weeks
Aug 26 2008 01:41:01 I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's death Rob. Unfortunately, most expressions of sympathy seem only to be extended to family. And friends left behind are often left feeling utterly bereft of comfort.
Take care. |

Re:A weird few weeks
Aug 26 2008 12:22:43 It is always sad to lose someone you care about Bob but as the old saying goes time heals, well no really it doesn't you just learn to live with it and push it to the far corners of your memory.
For the next few weeks you will eel sad but that feeling will recede as you get back to realising your dream of a new life in Canada. So all the best mate and hope that you get over this tragic loss asap. |
