So are we all still here? PDF Print E-mail

I know that I am... still here, that is. I got home last night after a 2 week runaround, although I did sneak home for a night in between.

I went down to Lawrenceburg, TN, with a load of steel. For some reason, US Customs decided they couldn`t let me go to begin with, but they wouldn`t say why. Don`t you just hate that? I was meant to meet a man at 18:30 in Grand Forks, ND, to get a new cellphone (sounds shady but was all above board, I promise).

Anyway, they finally let me go so I met him an hour after. He does this for people, comes and gets then at the truckstop, takes them to his shop and sorts out the new contract. He is one of the best Verizon salesmen in the USA because he doesn't stop at 5pm.

So, new phone in hand, I hammered on. Not going to say how, but I got to the drop on Monday morning. It took a while so I missed the pick up out of Kentucky.

What I wanted to tell you, avid reader, was that I saw the all time classic example of a redneck family in Faucett, MO. There were 2 couples, I presume 2 generations of the same family but who can tell....!? The older of the men was almost drooling, sat there staring into space with biball overalls, denim of course, stained tshirt beneath and running shoes, and he had a floppy hat with camouflage markings. The older of the ladies obviously uses curlers without much skill or concern for results and was dentally challenged. She was tending the kids. The younger lady was sat there smoking, and she would put her ciggie out in between snatches of food then relight it afterwards, and the younger guy actually had a NASCAR tshirt on.

Now then, there were also 2 kiddies there. The younger one was a boy under 2 years. They were actually getting new drink straws from their server because they, the adults, were using them as pea shooters with chewed up wads of paper!!

Really! I am not making this up.

Loaded out of KY on Tuesday, and tipped in Calgary on Friday. Pretty droll really. Got tired at Brooks, AB, so thought I would snatch a nap. Woke up 8 hours later and we were supposed to be going out. OOPS!!

Hammer down. Averaged 107kmh all the way back to Niverville, and I did stop for a wee wee and a coffee in Moosejaw (and I did wash my hands before I got the coffee!!) I didn`t think that was bad. 11 hours, Brooks to my front door!!!

Anyway, back to the moment. I hear that things are worse in the UK than is being publicised. I also hear the gov are blaming it on the credit crunch. What foul bull is this? There is no such thing. It is a recession created by the people in charge to further cow the public into doing as they are told. It almost makes me laugh when I hear the US govt saying their economy is growing due to exports. The only reason there were lots of exports is because the US$ was worth much the same as the Zimbabwe $. That meant that things were so much cheaper to buy in the US, but they were not able to buy anything because nobody could afford to sell to them.

The conspiricist in me wonders this. Does anyone else think that the US deliberately devalued thier dollar so that people could not afford to sell things. Look around, everything major in the world seems to be sold in USD. Oil, airplanes, weapons....., and China has got huge amounts of US$ that they can't afford to spend. Airbus can't afford to sell their aircraft because the dollar was so weak that they would be selling at a loss. In the meantime, because of that, the US military have reopened the tender for the in-flight refuelling aircraft because the cost to buy from Europe, on a tender already won by Airbus, was too much. Now Boeing have finally started test flying their new airliner (which they hadn't even got close to when Airbus started selling their A380)

I don't know, but it all seems too much of a coincidence.

Rant over.
