Kuehne + Nagel (KN) plans to buy the French groupage service provider Alloin. The move represents a major step in the implementation of KN's business strategy for its overland activities, as it had been seeking a takeover candidate in France for a while now. Last year it negotiated with the Mory group for the acquisition of its groupage subsidiary Mory Team, but the talks failed, apparently on account of price expectations. The Alloin group is based in Villefranche-sur-Saone, near Lyon, and generates an annual turnover of approximately EUR 300 million. The family-owned company's 3,000 employees operate 53 cross-docking terminals and handle 20,000 shipments a day.
